The Egyptian presidential spokesman, Bassam Rady, confirmed that the exploration activities that his country is carrying out in the Mediterranean are carried out in accordance with the principles and norms of the international law and the United Nations conventions, governing activities and countries' management of their natural resources in the high seas.

Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, directed Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, to intensify search efforts and expand new exploration areas, in an effort to achieve the optimal economic and developmental exploitation of Egypt's resources, to support the national product, as he put it.

It is to be noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, in addition to the foreign and defense committees of the House of Representatives announced their rejection of the Egyptian presidency’s decision to demarcate the western maritime borders of the country, considering it unfair under international law to be declared unilaterally and constitutes a violation of Libyan territorial waters.
