The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, has called for implementing a broader cooperative mechanism for addressing the crisis in Libya.

Responding to a question at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Di Maio said, "We need broader cooperation regarding Libya.. which is one of the Mediterranean gateways through which thousands and thousands of migrants pass," as reported by the Italian Nova news site.

Di Maio also stressed the need to move forward in reforming the UN Security Council to break the deadlock when dealing with countries in conflict, such as Ukraine.
