The Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi di Maio said Italian companies will start building Tripoli International Airport in few months as well as the highway from Tunisia borders with Libya to the Egyptian borders, adding that the Italian firms have started devising work to kick off rebuilding operations at Benghazi Airport.

Aki reported Tuesday that di Maio said at the G7 meeting that Italy was calling for cooperation to support stability in Libya and to create new opportunities for economic investments for the benefit of both the Libyan people and Italian firms.

Di Maio indicated that the issue of illegal immigration, with the advent of summer, is very important for cooperation, adding that Italy received assurances of cooperation from Libya in this regard, which would allow Rome to manage this issue with its major allies.
