Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio, has stressed that there is no way out of the current Libyan crisis but a political settlement, stressing that his country's priorities regarding Libya are to avoid military escalation.

"We are closely monitoring the current situation in Libya, from which we believe there is no other way out than a political settlement between the parties", the head of Italian diplomacy added, in an event at the Louis Business School in the capital, Rome.

Di Maio said that the priority of his country's authorities regarding Libya lies in avoiding military escalation or dividing the country, which has destabilizing effects on the entire region.
