Notables and sheikhs from the eastern region have called on Prime Minister Abud Hamid Dbeibah to visit Benghazi at the earliest possible date after he was banned from entering the city a week ago by a group of Haftar's loyalists.

Dbeibah received the delegation -which included mayors and civil activists- at his office in Tripoli on Wednesday.

The group discussed with the Prime Minister their needs as a region, and the problems encountered by their municipalities, as well as means to overcome them, a statement by the PM media office said.

The notables and sheikhs emphasized their firm support for the unity of the Libyan soil and its people, and called on the PM to expedite his visit to Benghazi.
