The east-based “Interim Government” announced its intention to stop the air traffic at Benina Airport in Benghazi because of corruption and mismanagement.

"If the security, administrative and operational conditions at Benina Airport in Benghazi are not restored in a week from now, domestic and international flights will be diverted to Al-Abraq Airport in Al-Bayda city," the government stressed in a statement Thursday.

The situation in Benina Airport has been plagued by chaos and corruption in such that passengers with reservations could find their seats passed to others, because of the manipulation and selling of boarding passes by security personnel at the airport.
