The Deputy Minister of Interior of the Interim Government, based in Al-Bayda, issued an arrest warrant on Wednesday evening for the Mayor of Tobruk, Naji Maziq, for his meeting on Tuesday with the Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayaz Sarraj, in Tripoli.
This action falls on the backdrop of a decision announced by head of the government, Abdulla Thinni, which stated that any mayor or government official representing the eastern region of Libya would be arrested if they had any cooperation with the Presidential Council and its government, accusing those who do so with treason.
