Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has held a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional issues, according to a statement from Egypt’s Foreign Ministry.
The two ministers exchanged views on key developments in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the ongoing situation in Libya.
During the call, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s continued support for Libya’s national institutions and stressed Cairo’s longstanding commitment to the unity and territorial integrity of the country.
He also emphasised that Libya’s political process must remain firmly in the hands of the Libyan people. The Egyptian minister underlined the need for holding presidential and parliamentary elections in parallel as soon as possible to ensure stability and legitimacy.
