The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has lauded the Speaker of Libya's House of Representatives and the Head of the High Council of State as they agreed to refer a draft constitutional rule to the two houses for approval.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Abu Zaid, said the agreement of the two councils was a step forward towards holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously in Libya as soon as possible.

The Egyptian official reiterated his country's continued support for the choice of the Libyan people and the role of institutions.

He said the step contributes to achieving security and stability, the unity of the country, and the exit of all foreign forces and mercenaries from its territory.
