The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, stressed to the UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily, on Monday the importance of completing the constitutional process and holding presidential and legislative elections in order to end the crisis in Libya, stressing at the meeting in Cairo the necessity of "Libyan ownership of the solution, and the importance of respecting the elected legislative institution."

According to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shoukry said there is no way to implement existing agreements and abide by legal and political obligations without specific mechanisms and timeframes for the  implementation, in addition to serious follow-up by the international community of the parties responsible for implementation.

He explained that the process also requires the implementation of UN and international resolutions regarding the exit of all foreign forces, mercenaries and fighters from Libya within a specific timeframe, stressing the importance of supporting the mission of the 5+5 Libyan Joint Military Commission, in addition to agreeing to intensify work toward advancing the Libyan-Libyan political solution in a manner that achieves security, stability and prosperity in Libya.
