The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) reported that clashes in the area of Castelverde led to the damage of power lines linking Khoms generating station and the generating station east of Tripoli.

The company said in an official statement that the damage led to the isolation of the station in full and caused a spike in the electricity network, which led to the loss of power in both plants.

The southern and western Tripoli generating stations also went offline and transmission lines from Khoms and Misrata were also affected. All of these factors could result in a full shutdown of the grid, warned the electricity company.
