The General Authority of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has called off joint prayers at mosques, including Friday prayers, as a preventive measure against the novel coronavirus.

The decision is to enter into force at Maghrib prayer on Monday, and the imams must alert worshipers during the Duhir and Aser prayers from the same day, a statement issued by the endowments authority says.

The General Authority of Endowments and Islamic Affairs indicated that the decision came after coordination with the competent authorities, such as the Ministry of Health and the National Center for Disease Control.
