Audit Bureau

The head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, Nicola Orlando, said he discussed the pivotal role of the Audit Bureau in ensuring accountability in the management of public resources during a phone call with the bureau's president, Khaled Shakshak.

In a post on the social media platform X, Orlando emphasized the EU's interest in Libya's current developments, in close coordination with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya. He underlined that transparency, oversight, and safeguarding the bureau’s independence from external interference are key priorities.

Meanwhile, the UK’s Deputy Ambassador to Libya, Thomas Phipps, reiterated Britain’s full support for the Audit Bureau. In a tweet on X, Phipps noted his meeting with Shakshak and stressed the importance of keeping the bureau free from political interference and ensuring its operational independence.

Both envoys underscored the critical role of the Audit Bureau in promoting transparency and accountability in Libya.
