European Union High Representative, Federica Mogherini called Thursday for the withdrawal of Haftar's forces from the suburbs of Tripoli, urging them to abide by the humanitarian truce called for by the United Nations.

"The military attack on Tripoli and the consequent escalation, endangers civilians, including migrants and refugees, and disrupts the UN-led political process," Mogherini said in a press statement issued by the European Union.

The statement called on the member states and their international and regional partners to exercise their influence and send a clear message to the parties concerned that there is no military solution to the Libyan crisis, but a political solution.
