In a statement, the EU highlighted the importance of safeguarding fundamental rights and freedoms for all citizens and emphasized the need for greater political freedoms and the full participation of women in Libya’s political, economic, and social life.
The EU also encouraged Libyan authorities to foster a thriving civil society and urged them to adopt measures such as a law combating violence against women, a new civil society law, and the ratification of key international conventions, including the Convention Against Torture’s Optional Protocol.
