EU Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM) denied that one of its advisors represented Libya at the “37th Session of the Enforcement Committee of the World Customs Organization (WCO).”

EUBAM tweeted: “The photo does not depict reality: EUBAM expert was asked to add technical advice by the Libyan Customs at the WCO in line with EUBAM’s mandate to assist Libyan authorities on their request, a pure Libyan lead process.”

Meanwhile, the advisor’s photos sitting in the conference and representing Libya sparked anger on social media. No official statement from the foreign ministry or the customs department in Libya has been issued up until now.
