The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has expressed its concern about the arrest of the director of the media office in the municipality of Benghazi, Maher Al-Gharyani, by a security force in Benghazi after he criticized the demolition of buildings in the city.

Euro-Med Monitor said in a statement on Friday that it monitored the arrest of the activist Al-Gharyani, by Tariq bin Ziyad Brigade, one day after his release from the Internal Security Agency in Benghazi, who detained him for hours.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called on the Libyan authorities to reveal the fate of Al-Gharyani, and stop retaliatory arrests.
