The European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, has expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) in preparation for the municipal council elections of the first group in 2024, and the second group, which is scheduled to begin implementation in early January 2025.
The HNEC Chairman, Imad Al-Sayeh, received the European official and his accompanying delegation at the HNEC HQ.
Orlando reiterated the European Union’s readiness to provide technical and advisory support to the HNEC, which enhances its readiness for the implementation of the elections.
The European Ambassador also noted, in a post on his X platform, that “competent and accountable municipal councils and mayors are essential for effective service delivery to local communities.”
