Firefighting teams affiliated with oil companies have managed to control a fire in one of the oil pipelines leading to the tanks of Sedra Port, about 30 km away.
Al-Waha Field Superintendent, Hamad Busaif, confirmed that the fire occurred in one of the Al-Waha Company’s two pipelines and was caused by a dredging machine that was working on the pipeline.
The fire was dealt with and the pipeline was isolated immediately, and while waiting for the oil level to drop, the fire would be extinguished permanently, he added.
Busaif explained that the situation is under control, as firefighting teams from the neighboring oil company immediately moved to the site of the fire, and maintenance teams will begin work on the pipeline as soon as the remaining flames in the line are extinguished.
