The Public Prosecution has ordered the pretrial detention of Five officers of the customs guards in Misrata Port for embezzling 25 million dinars from the customs guarantees account.

The defendants also face charges of conspiring with others to pursue personal interests outside the legal framework and deliberately forging official documents to benefit others.

The Public Prosecution Office confirmed that it had taken action to ensure the prosecution of the rest of the perpetrators and the full recovery of the stolen money.

It indicated that the measures taken so far have led to the recovery of seven million dinars out of the total value of the stolen funds.
