The Foreign Ministry has denied reports published by some media outlets regarding the defection of some of the Libyan Embassy's staff in Cairo and their alignment with the parallel government in the east.

The ministry said in a statement Friday that an unknown group stormed the embassy's HQ in Cairo for the purpose of blackmail and extortion of money, emphasizing that the group does not belong to the embassy and has no functional relationship with it.

It pointed out that it had called on the company responsible for securing the embassy to take the necessary measures and stop such abuses.
