Four former officials from Hay Al-Andalus Municipality have been detained following allegations of financial misconduct. The Public Prosecution revealed that the officials approved payment for a geographic information systems (GIS) project that was never implemented.
Those detained include a former municipal council member overseeing infrastructure, an acting internal auditor, a financial controller, and an administrative and financial affairs officer. Investigators uncovered falsified documents claiming the project was completed, leading to financial losses for the contracting party.
The prosecutor’s office confirmed the decision to detain the officials pending further investigation.
