Former US diplomat, Ambassador Richard Schmierer, said that this year may witness a settlement among the political parties in Libya, and holding elections as well as the formation of a legitimate government.

Schmierer said in a press statement that the US reiterated its support for the rights of the Libyan people recently, expecting progress in resolving the crisis in 2023.

"The Libyan crisis is very important for the West. Europe as well as the US are interested in maintaining stability in Libya." He said.
