The House of Representatives issued Resolution No. 9/2024, declaring the end of the term of the Government of National Unity, headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, in accordance with the previous HoR decision No. 10 / 2021 regarding withdrawing confidence from the government, noting that the House of Representatives took the same step three previous times.
According to the decision, the government emanating from the House of Representatives is the sole executive authority in the country, until a new government is elected.
The resolution also indicated that the Speaker of the House of Representatives is the High Commander of the Libyan Army in accordance with the provisions of the Constitutional Declaration.
