France announced via its embassy in Libya on Sunday its support for the call of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, on the House of Representatives (HoR) and the High Council of State (HCS), to put the final touches on the constitutional basis for holding elections.

The French embassy said on Twitter that it supported reaching a "Libyan-Libyan" solution to resolve the political crisis, and holding elections according to a specific time frame.

Bathily urged - after HoR and HCS had issued a statement confirming that they had reached an agreement on the points of contention between them regarding the constitutional basis - to speed up reaching a full and final agreement, including on conflicting issues, in order to complete the necessary steps to hold inclusive national elections within a specified time frame.
