The French Foreign Ministry has claimed that the memorandum of understanding signed between Turkey and Libya on the gas and energy agreement is incompatible with the international Law of the Sea.

In a statement on Friday, the French Foreign Ministry said it had taken note of this information, as explained by other European partners and the European External Action Service, pointing out that France's position on the memorandum of understanding signed between Turkey and the Government of National Accord in 2019 has not changed and that it violates the sovereign rights of the EU member states, and it does not comply with the international Law of the Sea, as it puts it.
