The Kremlin-linked Wagner group stationed in Libya has sent four Russian military cargo planes from Benghazi to Mali, the French Mond Afrique website revealed on Friday.

According to the publisher, the planes carried military equipment, fighters, and drones.

The French website read the move within the "strengthening of the Russian-Libyan axis" as the group sent the cargo weeks after warlord Khalifa Haftar visited Moscow on September 27.

The Wagner mercenaries, who have been stationed in eastern and southern Libya since 2018, fought in Haftar's ranks in his aggression against Tripoli in 2019.
