The General Electricity Company in Libya (GECOL) announced that main power transmission lines were cut as a result of the strong winds in the Western Mountain, causing Ruwais power plant to be out of service and a loss of 210 megawatts to the main electrical grid.

The GECOL said in a statement on Tuesday that as a result of this power loss, there will be manual load shedding to protect the main electrical grid.

The GECOL had previously announced that for the fifth consecutive day there was a surplus in electricity production, resulting in no need to power cuts.
