The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) signed on Tuesday a memorandum of agreement to resume work on the Zueitina dual-cycle power plant stalled project with the Korean Daewoo Company after years of suspension.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GECOL, Wiam Al-Abdali, expected improvement in the electrical grid by the end of this year, with the resumption of work at many stalled projects and power stations, and activation of contracts for new projects.

In a video published on the company’s Facebook page, Al-Abdali said that the company’s maintenance teams were able to restore about 3,000 megawatts, in addition to maintaining 2,000 kilometers of electricity transmission lines.
