The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) urged the Ministry of Interior and all security authorities to protect the electrical network, which is being exposed daily to looting and theft.

"The hands of evil are using all means to inflict harm and damage to the nation's electrical grid, and this time they have hit the distribution lines of Jafara in Sawani district," GECOL clarified on Facebook, adding that an unknown group has looted over eighty-three thousand meters of power lines.

The company explained that this has led to frequent power outages to large parts of Wirshiffana town.
