The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said Monday that installing work at the Zahraa power plant project finished in three gas turbines with a capacity of 47 megawatts for each one to help reduce the amount of power outages and stabilize the general electricity network.

GECOL added that it signed contracts with a German company to import and set up five gas turbines (Siemens) with 47 megawatts each with a total capacity of 235 megawatts, adding that the turbines work by natural gas or light fuel.

Two similar turbines were installed in south Tripoli power plant and are now operating.
