The chairman of the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), Abdul-Majid Hamza, stated on Tuesday that the company is looking at solutions that will end the electricity crisis in the country.

Hamza said in a press statement that contacts had been made with the Libyan Audit Bureau regarding the suspension of contracts with companies to set up power plants. He added that the company will start negotiations in July with the companies implementing all electricity projects in Libya, expecting the power crisis would end by summer 2019.

He stressed that the company will develop a timetable with the companies contracted to complete the stalled projects, saying Ubari power plant project is expected to end by next winter if there is no disruption to the work of the companies implementing it.
