The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has reported that an unknown group had stolen around 1500 meters of power lines from Zliten industrial district causing power cuts to a vast area of the region.

The company explained in a statement issued Saturday, that it had urged Zliten Municipal Council and the security authorities in the city to take action, in order to protect the power stations that are being constantly attacked in broad daylight.

Other looters have stolen copper wires estimated at 3000 meters from the distribution station north of Al-Aziziya district, leaving many homes in that area in darkness, according to the GECOL.
