The General Electricity Company GECOL said that the power transmission lines located in the southeast of Tripoli were hit in the armed clashes that took place Monday, affecting the functioning and the operational flexibility of the power network.

On Facebook, the company explained that the engagement area is a transit zone for the main transmission lines linking the power plants to the switching stations.

The GECOL stressed that it would not bear responsibility for the breakdown of the power plants, which might result in a total blackout in the network if other stations were targeted.

The company added that the clashes caused serious damage to the transmission lines, where six lines were hit by indiscriminate firing in different areas, including Ein Zara, Wadi Al-Rabea, and Bir El-Osta Milad.
