The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) disclosed Sunday that three generating units at Zawiya Power Station have gone out of service due to adverse weather conditions.

"High wind speeds and sea disturbance blocked the water entrances of the steam units in the station and led to the closure of units I, II and III," GECOL said.

The company added that the closure of the three units resulted in the loss of 400 megawatts, which in turn lead to a deficient, and an increase of load shedding hours.
