German authorities arrested a Libyan man near Berlin on Saturday as authorities suspected he was planning an attack on the Israeli embassy in Berlin and supporting a "terrorist group abroad."
Bild newspaper reported that a major police operation involving special forces took place in the evening in the town of Bernau, near Berlin, where the suspect was arrested and his home in Bernau was searched.
According to Bild, the Libyan arrived in Germany in November 2022 and applied for asylum, which was rejected on September 28, 2023.
