The Kidney Department at Ghat General Hospital was reopened on Thursday after closing a few days earlier.

A hospital official said that the department returned to work after the arrival of the much needed operating materials and the arrival of maintenance technicians to repair any faulty equipment.

The hospital suffers from a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies, and has had only one specialist doctor for over a year, with the exception of some voluntary medical convoys that visit the city from time to time.
