The Spokesman for the General Labors Union for Oil & Gas Sectors in Libya (GLUOGS), Louay Dawood, urged the authorities to urgently provide protection for the workers in this sector.

Dawood revealed in a press statement that they intend to organize a stand on Tuesday at the Zawia refinery to protest the deteriorating security conditions in the oil facilities and fields.

He also demanded officials to intervene to release the workers who had been kidnapped in an attack by gunmen months ago on one of Al-Sharara Oil Field sites, stressing that workers might recourse to collect the ransom demanded by the kidnappers for the release of their colleagues if the government failed to do so.
