The Government of National Unity has allocated 70 million dinars to compensate residents affected by devastating fires that destroyed over 150 homes in the Asabi‘ah Municipality, west of Libya. The cause of the fires remains unknown.
According to Decision No. 118 of 2025, the funds will be directed to the Ministry of Local Government and drawn from the miscellaneous expenses budget under existing legislation.
A special committee, to be appointed by the Minister of Local Government, will oversee the compensation process and submit regular progress reports to the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Social Affairs has launched a relief effort, dispatching aid convoys, assessing the damage, and deploying psychological support teams alongside logistical assistance to ensure affected families receive the help they need.
