The Council of Ministers has approved a resolution to grant Libyan citizenship to more than 100 people, including the children of Libyan women married to foreigners, Muhammad Hammouda, spokesman for the GNU, confirmed on Wednesday.

Hammouda disclosed that the Passports, Nationality and Foreigners Affairs Department forwarded to the Cabinet 130 names out of the 289 applications it received in this regard.

"Those covered by the cabinet decision, in particular, are the children of Libyan women married to foreigners," Hammouda told reporters at a press conference.

According to the GNU spokesman, the Council of Ministers turned away 159 names from the list submitted by the passports and nationality authority for lacking a valid ground for obtaining the document.
