UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called on foreign nations to end their interference in Libya, arguing that stability in the North African country would serve the interests of all parties.

“Countries that intervene in Libya to protect their interests must understand that a peaceful Libya benefits everyone,” Guterres said in an interview with Al Arabiya TV chanel on Friday.

He reiterated the importance of allowing Libyans to choose their own leaders, warning that the current political situation should not be used as an excuse to prolong instability.
