The President of the High Council of State (HCS), Khalid Al-Mishri, met Monday with the United Nations envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, in Tripoli, with the presence of his first and second vice presidents, Naji Mukhtar and Fawzi Aqab.

The meeting discussed ways to overcome the political stalemate in the country and the contentious points regarding the constitutional referendum.

The High Council of the State clarified via its new Facebook page that the two sides have also assessed the possibility of holding parliamentary, presidential and municipal elections, in addition to the proposals concerning the amendments to the political agreement.

Khalid Al-Mashri was elected Monday as the new President of the High Council of State by 64 votes.
