The High Council of State (HCS) issued a statement on Tuesday expressing its concern about the ambiguity surrounding the new EU mission (Operation IRINI) launched to enforce the UN arms embargo on Libya.

"The EU's insistence to monitor only activities in the sea brings into question the real motives underlying this process," the HCS stated.

It called on the PC to demand a clear explanation of such move and voice its objection to the selectivity and double standards applied by the EU, according to the statement.
