The Head of  Bakers' Syndicate, Boukhris Mohamed, said that some bakeries have expressed their willingness to raise the price of bread to one dinar for every two loaves.

This follows the recent increase in flour prices, which resulted from the decline in the value of the dinar against foreign currencies.

Mohamed explained in a press statement on Sunday that the price of a quintal of flour rose from 195 dinars to 255 dinars, "which places an additional burden on bakery owners and threatens the stability of bread prices," he said.

He noted that he had contacted Head of Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and its Minister of Economy, Mohamed al-Hawij, regarding the repercussions of the increase in the price of a quintal of flour, but that the syndicate has not yet received a response.
