The High Council of State (HCS) strongly condemned the extrajudicial execution of prisoners by Mahmoud Al-Werfalli - a field commander at the Khalifa Haftar-led self-styled army - in Benghazi.

The HCS added that condemnations and statements are not effective anymore and cannot stop the murders taking place in eastern Libya, where impunity has grown larger.

It also blamed Haftar's command in Benghazi for such crimes, urging the international community to take the needed measures toward Haftar's command violations.

The HCS also said it was upset to hear of the reports of extrajudicial executions of three people in Derna, urging for holding perpetrators of such crimes responsible for their acts and sending them to justice.
