A committee representing the displaced people of the eastern region has reached out to the High National Electoral Commission (HNEC) to ensure their participation in any future elections.

The commission confirmed that it had received during a meeting with the Head of the HNEC Emad Al-Sayeh assurances to establish polling stations in the areas of current residence of the IDPs.

Jamal Buqrain has been assigned as an advisor to the HNEC President to supervise the election centers for the IDPs, the committee quoted the HNEC head as saying.

The HNEC - according to the same source - confirmed it is working on a plan to allow the displaced from the eastern region to vote and nominate in their original districts from the place of their displacement.
