The High National Election Commission (HNEC) has decided to postpone voter registration for the second round of municipal council elections to April 13, after registration was scheduled to close on Sunday.
The commission said in a statement that it had decided to extend voter registration for the 52 municipal councils until the end of the working day on April 13, based on a recommendation from its board of directors following its eighth meeting of 2025.
Registration committees resumed work on Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., after being suspended since March 20 for Eid al-Fitr. Registration continued via text message during that period.
