The High National Elections Commission (HNEC), in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), launched a three-day workshop aimed at bolstering the capabilities of public prosecutors in addressing crimes linked to electoral disputes.
The training, which began on Wednesday, focuses on international standards for free and fair elections, various electoral systems, and the legal framework for handling electoral conflicts. A practical election day simulation was also conducted to provide participants with a hands-on understanding of the unique challenges involved in managing electoral disputes and associated crimes.
HNEC described the workshop as a collaborative effort with the Public Prosecutor's Office to improve the judiciary's readiness to address legal challenges, particularly in the context of upcoming municipal elections.
