Member of the High Council of State (HCS) Idriss Boufayed said on Saturday that the House of Representatives (HoR) had proposed that the mechanism of selecting the new Presidential Council (PC) is by the agreement of members of Libya’s three regions in the two councils to a representative in the PC, stressing that the majority of the members of the HCS reject this suggested mechanism.

Boufayed stressed in a press statement that the united country conducts direct and indirect national elections only at the national level, pointing out that the mechanism proposed for the presidential election is complex.

He described the pressure imposed on the HCS and the week-long deadline to respond to the proposal of the HoR as a "degrading treatment."
