Hyundai Corporation has begun work on the long-delayed West Tripoli Steam Power Plant, according to an announcement by the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) on Thursday.

The project, stalled for more than ten years, includes four production units with a combined capacity of 1,400 megawatts. GECOL stated that once completed, the plant will significantly contribute to stabilizing Libya’s national power grid.

The company also confirmed that most of the necessary equipment and materials for the project have already been delivered. This development is part of a broader strategy by the company’s board to boost electricity production and enhance the stability of the network across the country, according to GECOL.
